Lion Controversy at the Masters

You have to love a casino game where a man can hit a great chance and have it wind up costing him 4 strokes. In the final examination thatas what happened to Tiger on the 15th hole recently at the Masters when he hit the flag stick and his baseball caromed in to the water. He took a stroke and then replayed the shot perhaps not from exactly the same location but from a couple of feet further straight back. The issue of him perhaps not playing from the exact same spot was taken to the principles officers and they decided, while Tiger was still playing the 18th hole, that there was no violation and let him sign his card since it was. After further assessment and conversing with Tiger, who was entirely honest about what happened and that his motive was to boost his rest by going back a couple of feet, they decided that he must be punished another 2 shots. A year ago the USGA dominated that people who signed if they didnat a wrong scorecard didnat need to be disqualified know it absolutely was wrong before they signed. Most agreed this is an excellent rule change at that time. Therefore whatas the large brouhaha? Didnat every thing play out since it must have? Iam planning to just take my battle in this right to Brandel Chamblee who thinks Tiger must do the honorable thing and withdraw. Iam pursuing Brandel because I like his discourse and I regard him tremendously for the ideas he brings to tennis shows. Iam entirely astonished that he and I are on opposite sides with this problem. Golf is a game that lives and dies by its rules and itas rule of conduct which will be player loyalty. First, Tiger was honest and explained precisely what he did. Secondly he followed the decision of the Masteras policies panel without issue. This is exactly what people are expected to complete. All of us understand that the players donat make the principles. Itas nothing like they should have convened all the people yesterday evening and had them vote on which should eventually Tiger. Just like the young Chinese novice who was disciplined recently for slow play, the guidelines committee tells you what their decision is and you abide by it. So just why should Tiger withdraw? In terms of I understand, players withdraw when they are injured or possibly thereas a personal emergency which requires they keep. Withdrawal isnat something that participants use to eliminate themselves when theyave develop a presentation of the guidelines and apply it to themselves. Disqualification is exactly what a contest committee does to a player who did something that the Guidelines of Golf requires them to be disqualified. That is similar to other activities like downhill ski race. You withdraw if youare hurt or donat want to battle for many private cause, youare disqualified when you donat conform to the rules such as missing an entrance. Iam unsure why Brandel thinks Tiger should withdraw. Should all participants choose their moral character before, throughout and after a round and decide if they should withdraw. Of course not. Thatas not just how golf works. When someone, or the ball player themselves, think a player has broken a rule, then your rules officials are alerted and they make the ultimate decision. Itas not as much as commentators or spectators or fellow people. In Tigeras condition at Augusta, the rules committee interpreted and used the rules assessing him a 2 stroke penalty after the round. They decided he shouldnat be disqualified. Itas maybe not up to Tiger to be their own policies committee and disqualify himself. The USGA and PGA Tour decided with Augusta Nationalas ruling. Tiger took his penalty without issue and is abiding by their selection. it must be all is. What Chamblee is asking is for Tiger to disqualify himself by misusing the withdrawal provision in tennis. Thatas perhaps not what sort of game is played. A player gets a great opportunity and fundamentally loses 4 pictures based on the Rules of Golf. Thatas golf since it must certanly be. The Guidelines of Golf are what they're. Since they donat align with our concept of fair play sometimes we donat like them. In cases like this Brandel Chamblee needs them to be interpreted in accordance with his views. Thatas not the way it works. Itas as much as the Ruling Bodies and tournament committees to do that. Our personal feelings donat issue. Go ask Casey Martin about it if youare still confused.
