NCAA Lacrosse: Princeton Gets Benefit, Beats Cornell to Advance to Ivy Ultimate

Just a week ago, the Cornell Big Red beat the Princeton Tigers by way of a score of 17-11 in the Big City Classic. Ron Pannell had eight points in that one, and it seemed like Princeton was heading in the incorrect way. Well, all that's forgotten now. Last week, it had been Mike MacDonald with the nine items as Princeton got down Cornell 14-13 in overtime. It had been a game for the ages, and one of many greatest games I've ever seen. The gain not just served as revenge for the loss at MetLife Stadium, but it enables Princeton to continue their quest for the Ivy League overhead and a computerized bid to the NCAA tournament. The win also came in Ithaca, on Cornell's home turf, facing a hostile Big Red home group. Princeton played inspired lacrosse and will have a way to play Yale on Sunday at noon to take home the conference title. Princeton beat Yale in the regular season, but this rematch undoubtedly has more on the line. Cornell's protection clearly had difficulty containing MacDonald, but Tom Schreiber and Kip Orban had themselves great games as well. Schreiber finished with a four assists and goal, while Orban had three goals, including the game winner, and added a help. Lion goalie Eric Sanschagrin, in his third start of period, played very well down the stretch. He made clutch saves and made good outlet passes to get his team right back on the part of the subject. He finished the night time with 12 saves, while Cornell goaltender AJ Fiore saved only 30 percent of the images he saw on crate, completing the overall game with six stops. Fiore was a powerful position for Cornell in the very first meeting between those two groups, but he appeared to be a shadow of himself yesterday evening. Princeton has enough ability to create a strong run in the NCAA tournament.
