Dad says Louisville G Russ Smith making for NBA

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) a Junior guard Russ Smith may leave Louisville early to enter the NBA draft, based on his father. Russ Johnson Sr. said the Cardinals' top scorer "did it all" within a college job that culminated with Louisville's 82-76 victory over Michigan on Monday evening for the NCAA tournament. That concept, two Big East crowns and an all-conference first-team selection this season finishes an application he said made it possible for his son to move onto the following level. Smith's father said his son will announce his decision within the next week. The 6-foot-1 Smith averaged this season to 18.7 points, including 22.3 in six NCAA tournament games. But he fought in the Cardinals' title-clinching success, lacking 13 of 16 photographs and finishing with eight items. Nonetheless, Johnson Sr. said, "he's going." "Last evening didn't trouble him," Smith said Tuesday. "Even if he'd gone 20 for 30, he only desired to win. He's happy for the people that stepped up when he was struggling. That is how I taught him to play." Calls to Louisville's running department weren't instantly returned. Cardinals people came back Tuesday to university from Atlanta but coach Rick Pitino, people of athletic manager Tom Jurich, the baseball staff and several administrative staffers went along to New Orleans to watch the Louisville girls perform Connecticut in the NCAA final. Smith hasn't chosen a realtor but his father said he plans to own insight into that decision. His departure would probably keep Louisville without three starters from the tournament team; guard Peyton Siva is graduating and 6-10 senior center Gorgui Dieng is expected to enter the NBA draft as well. Nicknamed "Russdiculous" by Pitino because of his wild and unknown play, the minor but nimble Smith offered lots of shows for the Cardinals a' along side doubtful shot variety. Before hitting a bump Monday, he was playing his best basketball this season. He averaged 25 points and three steals in the initial five games of the competition. His father insisted these are signs he's prepared to just take the next thing. "At this aspect, there is no other basis for him to come back," Smith said. "He is had two sound years and made it happen all. He may keep coming back next year but his health might be jeopardized by it. As the metal is hot" you have got to strike.
